Landscaper's Companion - Plant & Gardening Guide App Reviews

Needs more

Needs to include when to plant to be useful. Would be five star with this addition.

Must use another source first anyway

I cant spell EVERY plant correctly yet, or i wouldnt have needed an app to help, but this search function turns up NO plants unless they are spelled correctly, so i end up going to another source first anyway. Fail...

Not helpful

Searches do not work. Search for full shade, u actually get full sun. If u cant search accurately its not worth having. I want my $5 back

Very Disappointing

I expected to use this app to choose plants for my garden, then keep a running account of their progress including pictures and notes. This maybe possible with the additional Pro feature for an additional cost on top of the already expensive price for the regular version. There are many random photos which have no order or connection to each other. The photography is poor. For example theres a picture of a tree with a big truck parked in front of it. Another has a photo shot thru a windshield with the reflection of the steering wheel in the photo. AND I cant delete this junk and replace it with my own photos. Maybe this is OK for a beginning gardener but certainly not for a landscaper.

Landscape companion

This should be a free app. Its not worth $.99 let alone $4.99. I purchased it to identify the grasses in yard, but, theres too few pictures. The naming convention is organized by scientific name versus common name which is extra cumbersome. Theres less information in this app for each plant than is on a tag at Home Depot. Theres no plant categories map to know my category.

Not what I expected

Need more info on plants such as soil conditions needed. Lowes & Home depot give much better info on their tags.

Great all around reference

It has a great range of flowers, trees, shrubs, etc... I do say it could use a update there is still much more could be added. Not knocking it definitely a worthy download..

Rough

Lots of knowledge that cant be searched, utilized, or referenced. High in volume, low in detail.

Very disappointed

This was an expensive app, one I purchased to connect images with identifying features but the majority of them for my area (Northeast) are missing. What good is that???

Handy app

I find this app helpful when Im plant shopping. Its easy to use and gives basic care requirements. Good search features and pictures. Could improve by expanding the amount of plants and adding greater detail of care required at different times of year.

Limited usefulness

Update: 12 July 2013 Still fair even with the Pro upgrade. Little or no intuitive spelling look-up (I cant always spell the name Im looking for). Several or even many duplicate entries, e.g Crossvine and Cross Vine. Not sure if there is such a thing as "plantpedia", but if so, this would be a great step in providing a wealth of information. And last, but not least, some of this comment should have been in a "contact us" email, but, alas, the link is broken. Fair at best. Has a long way to go information wise before it becomes a truly informational and helpful plant/planting app.

Not yet ready for prime time.

It is true this app had come a long way. Still, its not where it could be. Improved from the earlier version, yes ---- it has improved. I dont like having to pay more for the privilege of being able to add my own information. Give me a clear statement the information I put in this app or my photos will not be used in any manner. Id like that to upgrade to pro. Lastly, crashes - this is silly at best. I had to delete the app after uploading as it crashed every time I tried to open it. After I reloaded the new version and I went to the contact page, oops the app crashed again. Until I can use this app to enhance my gardening experience the app is only worth 3 stars. This app should be top of the line. Not a 3 or 4 year project. I do like this app overall, it just not ready.

Crashes every time

When I first bought this program I wasnt too impresses by it. Mostly because I expected to be able to add my own info. But it seemed like they were always updating it so I had hopes it would get better. Today I tried to use the app the for the first time in a long time and it crashes every time when I try to open it. There have been several upgrades downloaded since I last used it so I dont know at which point it became a problem, but it seems other reviews mention the same problem. I guess Ill go back to using my huge but stable A-Z book. Not so portable, but it never crashes.

Great companion

great companion for my yard in the pacific northwest.

Landscapers Companion

Constant crashing, cannot download pics--crashes at about 1500 out of almost 16k. Keep trying to restore pro version but crashes. Email link broken. This app is in serious need of a complete overhaul. Very disappointing.

Nice app

Great reference source. Wide variety of material information.

Quick and Fun

This app provides a quick and handy Gardners reference. Landscapers Companion is evolving and adding content, helping to expand its usefulness. I enjoy exploring the content during my free time.

Keep trying to improve

Awkward search entry and few links to pictures. Descriptions often not reliable or helpful.

Gardening

Nice app. I like looking at all of the pictures.

Continually Improving!!!

5 stars. Im a licensed Landscape Horticulturist. This was one of the first horticulture apps available; Ive used it from the beginning and it is by far my favorite... SO, to all the complainers: If you cant find the info youre looking for, or if a photo doesnt match a cultivar... Stop whining! Contact the developer with any discrepancies you come across. Thats what I did... The number of updates are proof someones listening. The fact the developer is open to feedback - and acts on it! - makes this app even better.
